It’s time for a new update on one of the people featured in my small business chats – sorry it’s a day late if you’re reading it as it’s published; a small matter of a holiday without internet access intervened!
Today we’re catching up with Nigel Grant from More Profit For You. His original interview was published on 20 August 2011. When I asked Nigel where he wanted to be in a year’s time, he replied, “Small local business outsourcing some work whilst retaining involvement with clients myself”. So, while some of my interviewees were looking to take on staff, Nigel, like me, prefers to maintain client involvement and do some outsourcing. Let’s see what Nigel has to update us with …
Are you where you thought you’d be when you looked forward a year ago?
What has changed and what has stayed the same?
I’ve added a new significant client and retained my original client.
What have you learned? What do you wish you’d known a year ago?
I’ve learned to use a more defined marketing strategy. I wish I’d known how best to target my market.
Any more hints and tips for people?
Outsource support activities to allow you to focus on the main issues.
And … where do you see yourself and your business in a(nother) year’s time?
With a portfolio of 5 clients and working full time.
Outsourcing is key, and if I may plug one of my own posts, this article tells you how to decide what and when to outsource … Good luck to Nigel with the continued growth of his company and that move to full time. It took me a few years to get to that point, but it’s great when you do get there!
